Does Amun work fully offline?

No. New scans are sent to a processing pipeline over the network. Saved results in your archive can be reopened later, but translating a new photo needs a connection.

How accurate are the translations?

Accuracy varies with lighting, wear, and how standard the inscription is. The app can label AI translations as unverified. Do not treat a scan as a scholarly edition.

Can it identify statues, not only text?

Yes. Object regions can be matched against a visual index. Confidence can be low on lookalikes or unpublished pieces. Karnak Cachette works have extra catalogue context when they match.

Which languages does the app support?

English, Arabic, French, German, Chinese, and Russian for the interface. Translation output language follows what the pipeline returns for the selected locale.

Is there a free tier and Amun Pro?

Yes. Free use is rate-limited. Amun Pro is an in-app subscription on iOS and Android for higher limits and priority processing. Subscriptions are not sold on this website.

Is this website the scanner?

No. These pages are marketing and policy documents. Scanning happens in the Amun mobile app.
